Parks, Sewer Work and New Restaurants Are Moving Up the List

Homestead has some big changes on the horizon! Downtown sewer improvements, upgrades to Tom Harris Field, and plans for a possible 10,000-seat stadium at Homestead Regional Park could bring better facilities and more opportunities for local families.
And food lovers have something to look forward to. Flanigan's, Miller's Ale House, First Watch, and Shake Shack are among the restaurants in the pipeline. The Park of Commerce is growing too, with over 1.2 million square feet of built or approved space. No restaurant opening dates have been announced yet, but Homestead's next chapter is taking shape.

Two Ranger Walks Return to Royal Palm Wednesday

A midweek Everglades visit now comes with two ranger-led options at Royal Palm. The park calendar lists Anhinga Amble at 10 a.m. and Glades Glimpse at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, giving residents a guided way to spot wildlife and understand the landscape without planning a full-day expedition.
This is an easy close-to-home outing for visitors, retirees, homeschool families and anyone with a flexible weekday. Ranger programs can change with staffing, weather or wildlife conditions.
Give Castellow Hammock Three Hours Sunday Morning

Your Sunday morning can leave a local preserve healthier. EcoAction Day volunteers may remove invasive plants, add native plants or mulch, and collect litter at Castellow Hammock, one of South Dade’s pocket forests.
A focused three-hour workday helps protect native habitat and gives students a way to earn service hours. Volunteers younger than 13 must attend with an adult.
Registration lists space for up to 50 volunteers.
Las Tarascas Is a Strong Tuesday Stop for Mexican and Salvadorian Comfort Food

A Tuesday meal can be as simple as tacos al pastor, flautas, pupusas or a warm bowl of caldo at Las Tarascas. The family-friendly Homestead restaurant serves Mexican and Salvadorian food, offers online ordering, and lists vegetarian and kids-menu options.
It is a locally rooted, group-friendly option with free parking and hours that stretch from breakfast territory through dinner. Tuesday hours are listed as 10 a.m.–9 p.m.; the restaurant is closed Wednesday.
Nursery Rhymes Get a Grown-Up South Dade Remix Saturday

Saturday night at Cercle D Ranch mixes karaoke, painting, dancing and a playful challenge: reinterpret a nursery rhyme through song, rap, R&B, reggae, country, rock, jazz, pop, spoken word or comedy. Food and drinks are available for purchase, and costumes are welcome.
South Dade nightlife does not have to mean driving north. This one combines open-mic energy with a casual paint-night atmosphere for ages 15 and up.
