Knaus Berry Farm Is Capping Hot Cinnamon-Roll Orders at Four Dozen

Your next Knaus Berry Farm run should move faster, but the biggest cinnamon-roll orders need a new plan. When the farm opens for its 70th season on October 13, the main cashier will cap hot cinnamon-roll purchases at four dozen per guest. General manager Joel White told the Miami Herald that oversized early orders could stall last season's line, while about 95% of customers bought four dozen or fewer. A fourth register and more parking are meant to keep the regular line moving. Starting in November, customers seeking five to 12 dozen can use advance curbside pickup, although those rolls will not be hot from the oven and pickup slots will be limited. The farm is also planting 25,000 strawberry plants with Accursio Farms in hopes of restoring U-pick around Christmas or January, weather permitting. Mango shakes and slushies plus guava and hot-pepper guava jellies join the menu, while credit cards and Sunday hours remain. Put opening day on the calendar, bring a realistic order and use curbside once it launches if you are buying for a crowd.

Fall for the Everglades Adds a Seasonal Family Plan All Month

Families who want October fun without pretending South Dade has sweater weather can take the theme straight to the Everglades. Fall for the Everglades runs October 1-31 at Everglades Alligator Farm near Florida City. The seasonal program adds Not So Spooky airboat rides, pumpkin displays, photo stops and family activities to the attraction's regular wildlife experiences. Weekend programming is expected to include a Spooky Wagon with animal encounters and a Pumpkin Smash Feeding show. The published daily window is 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and tickets start around $30 for ages 3 and older. Specific activities may depend on the day, weather and animal-care schedule, so the weekend extras should be confirmed before a special trip. Closed-toe shoes, water, sun protection and bug protection will make the visit more comfortable. Choose an earlier entry for lower heat, then check radar because Friday and Saturday both carry thunderstorm chances.
📅 Date: October 1-31, 2026
🕐 Time: 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; weekend features vary

Leisure City Has a 24-Hour Kitchen for the Late Shift

Late workers, early commuters and road-trip groups have a full kitchen option in Leisure City when most local counters are dark. Exprezo at 29421 SW 152nd Avenue currently lists 24-hour service every day. Its online menu goes well beyond gas-station snacks, with birria tacos at $13.19, shrimp tacos at $11.99 and an Ultimate Burger at $14.39. A pan con bistec and a burrito are each listed at $11.99, while the steak sandwich is $16.79. The kitchen also offers subs, wings, breakfast, loaded fries, coffee, quesadillas and cold deli choices. Delivery prices can run higher than the walk-in counter, and online availability does not guarantee every item is ready overnight. Call or check the live ordering page before making a special trip, especially for breakfast or seafood. Save this one for the next late shift, airport run or Keys departure that needs more than drive-through fries.

Friday's Florida City Seafood Boil Is $49.99 and Runs Until 11pm

A Friday-night seafood plan in Florida City comes with an exact menu price before the group chat starts. Red Crab lists a $49.99 Friday special with a half-pound of shrimp, a half-pound of snow crab, a half-pound of clams, one piece of lobster and two eggs. The restaurant is open from noon to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Other choices range from $5.99 hushpuppies and $11.99 conch fritters to build-your-own boils, fried baskets, steaks and seafood paella. That makes it workable for a mixed group even when not everyone wants the same boil. The menu warns that photos are for reference and that prices or availability can change, so confirm the Friday special before ordering. Add tax, tip and drinks to the budget, and use a sober driver if the table orders alcohol. Go earlier if you want a quieter dinner, or treat the later hours as an easy night-out stop after shopping or an early event.
📅 Date: Friday, Oct 2, 2026
🕐 Time: Noon-11:00 p.m.; Friday special subject to availability

Two Homestead Permit Careers List Salaries From $45,053 to $52,146

South Dade applicants with permitting or construction-office experience have two live Homestead career tracks to compare. The City lists Permit Technician II at $45,052.80 to $47,299.20 a year. That mid-level job reviews and coordinates complex residential and commercial permit applications while helping contractors, designers and residents move submissions through the process. Permit Technician III lists $49,670.40 to $52,145.60 and serves as the senior quality-assurance level. Its duties include final verification, certificates of occupancy, permit closeout and administration of the Private Provider Program. Both full-time postings are marked continuous, which means they can remain open until the hiring need is met rather than carrying a guaranteed closing day. Applicants should make their resume show permit processing, construction documents, customer service, records accuracy and the ability to coordinate across departments. Read each qualification list closely and apply now, because continuous postings can close once the city has enough candidates.
📅 Date: Postings opened September 18 and Sep 21, 2026
🕐 Time: Apply while the continuous postings remain open
