Your Tap Water May Smell Different Starting Monday
A temporary chlorine smell or taste may show up Monday for Miami-Dade Water and Sewer customers as the county begins its annual system-cleaning conversion. From September 28 through October 11, WASD will use free chlorine instead of its usual chloramine treatment; the county says the water remains disinfected and safe for ordinary drinking, cooking and bathing.
Crews may flush water lines, which can briefly lower pressure or make water look cloudy. Run a cloudy tap for three to five minutes until it clears. Dialysis patients should contact their medical provider, and tropical-fish owners plus businesses with fish tanks should ask an aquarium professional about removing chlorine.

District 9 Businesses Could Get Up to $5,000 Through This Grant
A small South Dade business may be able to put up to $5,000 toward inventory, equipment, advertising, liability insurance, security or minor renovations. The Small Business Grant Program says application forms are available through Friday, October 2, with a Zoom workshop Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Eligible businesses must be for-profit, located in District 9 and operating for at least one year. Completed packets are not submitted online: the district says they must be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope October 5-9 by 4 p.m. at the Richmond Heights Business Development Hub.
