Leisure City students now have a hands-on room where they can move, build and work together instead of spending every lesson seated in rows. The redesigned innovation space at Leisure City K-8 includes an interactive floor, robotics and building kits, arts and crafts, board games, flexible tables and new study seating. Those tools give teachers more ways to turn teamwork, problem-solving and project skills into part of the school day. The room is one piece of a $2 million partnership creating 18 middle-school innovation spaces. The district expects 38 of these spaces to be operating across M-DCPS by fall. Families can ask how the room will support regular classes, clubs and after-school learning. Parents should also check which grades and courses will use it and whether students need to sign up for related activities. Because school access can vary, confirm the current program schedule directly with Leisure City K-8.

South Dade residents can turn Saturday morning into a free three-hour service project at the Cutler Bay Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers will remove debris and invasive plants from Coastal Ridge Preserve, then help add native species. The work supports a coastal corridor used by local wildlife and nearby neighborhoods. Students, service clubs and families can receive community-service hours for participating. Registration is required, and volunteers should complete the emailed waiver before arriving. Wear closed-toe shoes and park along SW 184th Street. Bring a hat, sunglasses and water in a reusable bottle; organizers plan to provide bags, gloves and litter pickers. Check registration availability before heading out because the number of open spots can change.

That base ticket includes the animal barnyard, photo setups, yard games, climbing, swings, zip lines, bounce houses, wooden play areas and a tubing slide. The clear pricing makes it easier to compare this local outing with a movie, arcade visit or longer drive. Optional extras cost more, including $4 animal feed, a $5 cow barrel train or pony ride, and a $10 horse ride. The ticket page may show online totals above the base price, so review fees before paying. Price the full outing in advance, including the add-ons children are most likely to request. Bring sun and rain protection, keep pets leashed, and confirm the live weather and refund terms before leaving home.

South Dade business owners have less than two weeks to renew local business tax receipts before late fees begin. Miami-Dade County receipts expire September 30, and renewal is not complete until both payment and the required Tax Collector Consent attestation are finished. Missing the deadline can add a 10% penalty in October, followed by 5% for each additional delinquent month up to 25%. Businesses located inside a municipality may also need a separate city receipt. Florida City says its local business tax licenses must also be renewed by September 30. Make this a Friday desk task by finding the receipt number, verifying the business name, location and activity, completing both county steps, and checking the city account. Do not automatically pay an old record if the business moved, changed ownership, changed its trade name or added a new activity. Contact the correct tax office first when something changed, then print and post the completed receipts.
