Florida City Just Fired Its City Manager
There’s a leadership shakeup next door. The Florida City Commission voted 3-2 Tuesday night to fire City Manager James Poag, less than a year after he was appointed to oversee the city’s daily operations.
Mayor Charlotte Thompson, Vice Mayor Ronda Cobb and Commissioner Trina Wilborn voted for the termination. Commissioners James Gold and Richard Brown voted against it. The city has not publicly provided a reason for the decision.

Woman Airlifted After Family Dog Attack in South Dade
A South Dade woman was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center Wednesday after deputies say she was attacked by a family dog near SW 285th Street and 143rd Court. She suffered bites to her arms and legs but was reported in stable condition. Miami-Dade Animal Services responded, and authorities have not released details about what led to the attack.
The Scoop: Investigators have not released the woman’s identity or additional information about the dog.
Two Winless Crosstown Rivals Meet Tonight
