Rinconcito Super Latino III Brings Authentic Cuban Tradition to Homestead

In a strip of Homestead just off exit two on Campbell Drive, the kitchen lights at Rinconcito Super Latino III flicker on at 6:00 a.m. every morning. Inside, a team led by a Cuban grandmother known affectionately as "La Abuela" begins the daily ritual of preparing traditional Latin American dishes that have kept locals coming back for over a decade.

"She's been with us for about 12 years, cooking as our head chef," says Gabriel Toledo, who runs the family-owned restaurant. "She cooks with such tradition. She cooks with passion. She doesn't really cut corners. She's really proud of what she does, and we're proud to have her."

Fresh From the Kitchen Every Morning

Rinconcito Super Latino III specializes in classic Cuban and Latin American cuisine, from Cuban ropa vieja to carne asada, sopa de res, and the pan con bistec and Cuban sandwiches that Miami has become famous for. But what sets this family restaurant apart is its commitment to freshness. Every morning, the kitchen prepares different daily specials and soups from scratch, cooks fresh rice, and readies ingredients for the day ahead.

The effort pays off in the form of devoted regulars who plan their weeks around certain dishes. "Our specials that people most crave are our oxtail that we make Tuesdays and Saturdays," Toledo explains. "On Sunday, our sopa de res, the short rib soup, is one of our best-selling soups of the week." Other favorites include the classic grilled chicken breast with rice and beans, skirt steak, and the ever-popular pan con mise.

A Cantina That Plans Your Week

Beyond the daily lunch rush and takeout orders, Rinconcito offers something particularly useful for busy Homestead residents: a cantina service that functions as a weekday meal plan. For about $14 per plate, customers can schedule Monday through Friday meals that include a protein, three sides, and soup.

"It's a good help for a lot of people," Toledo says. "We deliver it as well, so we do have a lot of older customers, and we deliver it straight to their house." The system also benefits families juggling errands and work schedules. Customers can choose what they want for each day of the week through a form, then swing by for pickup at their designated time, or call ahead when they're ready. "You have food ready to go instead of cooking or ordering each day," Toledo adds.

More Than Just a Restaurant

While the food draws people in, Toledo's vision for Rinconcito extends beyond the menu. The restaurant has hosted community events including cops and coffee gatherings and karaoke nights, with plans to bring back karaoke and introduce live bingo soon. "We are more of a family restaurant, not like a bar or a place where people dance and party, but we have had nights like that, and that makes it special," he says.

For Toledo, the proudest moments come from seeing Homestead neighbors fill the dining room, especially on weekends when locals show out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. "Instead of people driving 30 minutes or more to get to a bar or restaurant where there's a lot of music or action, we have that here in South Florida in Homestead," he notes. "It is a lot about the food, but we are really focused on our community."

That community focus, combined with La Abuela's traditional cooking and the restaurant's fresh daily preparations, creates an atmosphere where food is treated with the care reserved for family. "We are a family-owned restaurant, so we treat our food like if our customers were our family member," Toledo says.
