Fayemas Foods Turns a Decade-Long Dream Into a Family Business

For more than a decade, Chef Faye wanted to start her own food business. In July 2025, she and her family decided it was finally time to take the leap.

With more than 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Faye launched Fayemas Foods with a goal of sharing her passion for cooking while creating something for herself and her family.

The Homestead-based catering business is a family operation. Chef Faye works alongside her wife, brother and sister-in-law, serving customers at markets, festivals, private pop-ups and catered events throughout South Florida.

For the family behind Fayemas Foods, being part of community events is intentional.

“The relationships we make in our community are priceless,” Chef Faye said. “There is no better feeling than being at a market and seeing our regulars, or Fayemas Fam, as we like to call them, coming up to us to spend their time with us.”

Chef Faye was born and raised in the Redland and Homestead area and is of Mexican descent. Although her favorite cuisine to prepare is French, Fayemas Foods does not limit its catering menu to a particular cuisine.

Instead, Chef Faye works with clients to develop menus around what they envision for their events.

“What makes our business different is that we cater any and all foods,” Chef Faye said. “There are no specialties, and we can make a menu based purely on the client, with our help and guidance.”

That approach is reflected in the company's slogan, “We Cater Your Foodie Dreams.”

Fayemas Foods provides catering ranging from drop-off buffets to full-service events for hundreds of guests. The company is licensed by the state, insured and certified.

At local markets and festivals, one menu item has become particularly associated with the business: its skewers.

Fayemas Foods offers three signature flavors: Filipino pork, Filipino chicken and Mongolian beef. Each skewer contains approximately 7 to 7.5 ounces of protein. Customers can also have their choice of skewer chopped and served over jasmine rice or made into nachos with chips, cheddar cheese and a fresh cucumber and onion salad.

While catering is the focus of the business, Chef Faye said the family continues participating in markets because of the opportunity to connect face-to-face with customers and other vendors.

“Human connection makes all the difference when it comes to business,” Chef Faye said. “We don't want it to just be a transaction of service, but also a feeling of human connection and understanding.”

The first year of building Fayemas Foods has been challenging, educational and rewarding, according to Chef Faye, as the family continues learning and growing the business.

For Chef Faye, that growth remains closely connected to the community she has long called home.

“We love serving our own community here in Homestead and South Florida, as it is our home,” she said. “We love serving our family, friends and neighbors.”
