Amazon to Temporarily Close Homestead Warehouse

Amazon will temporarily close its Homestead fulfillment center for a two-year renovation, affecting about 616 employees. Workers can transfer to other South Florida facilities while the site is upgraded into a larger fulfillment center expected to reopen in 2028 with more than 1,000 jobs.
Harris Field Park proposal sets a July 22 public-comment date

Homestead posted notice of a July 22 public meeting on an unsolicited public-private proposal from Sports Performance Hub, through VSGS Facilities LLC, for a long-term concession and operator agreement at Harris Field Park. The proposal includes about $5.4 million in privately funded improvements, including synthetic turf, stadium and lighting upgrades, hospitality areas, and related site work. The city says it would retain ownership during a proposed 30-year term. Miami FC would have exclusive use during defined windows, while existing community users, youth sports groups, and Miami-Dade Public Schools athletics would retain access outside reserved periods.
